Punch needle seashell
MATERIALS
• Embroidery yarns or other fine yarns, 2 - 3 skeins of each colour
• Fabric suitable for punch needle, coarse linen/viscose (item no. 850179)
• Punch needle
• Marker
• Embroidery hoop
• Transparent glue
• Paintbrush
• Beads, size 14 mm
• Transparent nylon sewing thread
1- 1. Make sure you have all the materials you need.
2- 2. Print the template. Draw it up with a marker. Draw and work on the wrong side of the fabric. Tip: The marker lines dissolve in water.
3- 3. Thread the needle. Work as shown on the packaging. We used embroidery yarn in this project, i.e. all six strands. Make sure that you push the needle right to the bottom before pulling it gently up again.
4- 4. For best results, use a needle length between 4 and 12. To create a bold effect, alternate between working on the front and back and vary the length of the needle.
5- 5. Trim quite close to the embroidery if you want to use it as a decoration. If not, do not cut the fabric. You can, for example, display your embroidery in a pretty frame.
6- 6. Apply glue to the back. Make sure the glue is spread out to the edges to secure the yarn on the back and prevent the project from fraying. Leave until the glue is completely dry.
7- 7. If you do cut right to the edge of your work, make sure you apply glue to the edge to prevent fraying. Leave until the glue is completely dry.
8- 8. If you wish, you can decorate with beads. Sew beads onto your work using transparent nylon sewing thread. The embroidery shown above has been cut right to the edge and affixed to a covered box.
