Courtelle was developed by the company Courtaulds PLC in England in the mid-20th century. It's a composite fabric which is smooth, dense, soft, warm, and difficult to wrinkle. It's also known under the name “Ponte de Roma”.
Some Practicalities
This fabric consists of 70% viscose, 27% polyester, and 3% elastane. You choose the length you need for your sewing project – the width is 145 cm. Please note that the fabric shrinks 13% when washed.
When working with jersey, we recommend using a jersey needle, characterized by its medium point – also known as ball point. The needle easily penetrates the knitted quality and prevents stitches and threads from running. For this type of jersey, we recommend jersey needles in size 80.
