Sew Your Own Bow Blouse
#LiseBowBlouse
The bow blouse has been one of the most loved trends in recent seasons – and for good reason. It has it all: a flattering silhouette, a feminine touch, and those pretty bows that add elegance and personality to any outfit.
And here’s the best part: you can easily sew your own version! Our free sewing pattern #LiseBowBlouse is ready to download and print at home, so you can get started right away!
The blouse is super easy to style. Pair it with your favourite jeans for a casual everyday look, or dress it up with tailored trousers and accessories. You can even create a matching set with trousers in the same fabric – for a complete look that's both comfy and stylish.
How to Get Started
The bow blouse is a project that most people can complete with ease! You’ll need about 130 cm of fabric (135 cm wide), matching thread, a printer, scissors, a sewing machine – and of course, our free pattern. The rest is up to you and your creativity!
Download, print and tape the pattern together. Then cut out the pieces directly or trace them onto pattern paper before cutting your chosen fabric.
Tip: Use a rouleau turner when sewing the ties. It makes turning them right side out quick and easy – with a clean, even finish.
Make #LiseBowBlouse Your Own
One of the best things about sewing is that you can create something truly unique. With #LiseBowBlouse, you’ve got a template you can customise endlessly – whether your style is romantic, classic, colourful, or something else entirely. Here are some ideas to make your blouse one of a kind:
- Adjust the sleeve length – or go sleeveless (just remember to adjust fabric consumption)
- Use contrast fabric or ribbons for the bows to highlight the details
- Add topstitching in a contrasting or matching colour for a polished finish
- Decorate with embroidery, patches or small embellishments
- Turn it into a dress by extending the ruffle piece (don’t forget to adjust your fabric needs)
Choose the Right Fabric
The fabric you choose will have a big impact on the look, fit and feel of your blouse. Here are some ideas depending on the look you want:
- Soft with elegant drape: Try viscose, satin or silk
- Structured and modern: Go for denim, cotton poplin or jacquard
- Light and summery: Choose linen, muslin, seersucker or broderie anglaise
