New and improved sewing instructions

We have introduced a new and improved sewing tutorial designed to guide you through the sewing process with detailed instructions and clear illustrations. This guide makes it easier to understand and follow each step in the creation of your sewing project. Note: this only applies to patterns labeled with "Improved Sewing Guide".

Why Selfmade® sewing patterns save you tons of time

Unlike other pattern brands, you order a sewing pattern from Selfmade® in a specific size. But it's actually not a disadvantage - quite the opposite!

Selfmade® sewing patterns are made from durable pattern fleece that is printed with clear markings on the fleece - such as seam allowances, notches, darts, etc. to help you safely through your sewing project  Simply tear the pattern pieces off the fleece and place them on your chosen fabric. And you're already up and running! This eliminates the hassle of tracing on pattern paper and cutting it out, saving you a lot of time. Note: this only applies to patterns labeled with "Improved Sewing Guide".

Scratch the pattern pieces together before sewing

Once you have the sewing pattern at home, you can make a quick test model by knitting the pattern pieces together. Then you can quickly see if you need to adjust the pattern slightly. This way you avoid cutting fabric to the wrong size.

Choose the right size easily

We always recommend that you measure yourself and compare your measurements with our body measurement chart. However, we also recommend that you compare the model's product measurements from the front of the envelope with clothes you have in your closet at home. People have different preferences for how loose and tight they want their clothes to be - so here's a great opportunity to be sure of the fit.

Your choice of fabric will always be a decisive factor in the final look of the model. For example, there will be a difference depending on whether you choose a thin, lightweight fabric or a thicker, stiffer fabric. If you need guidance, you are more than welcome to ask in our stores or call our customer service.

Use your sewing pattern again and again

Sew for yourself, your friends or family - again and again. That's because our sewing patterns are made with high-quality pattern fleece, so you can use them for years to come.

How much fabric and accessories do you need?

Below (and on the back of the envelope) you will find the "Material consumption" form. Here you can see exactly how much fabric and accessories you need for this sewing pattern. This takes into account the direction of the pile and up and down on the pattern repeat so that all pattern pieces face the same way. If your fabric has a large pattern repeat that you want to fit, you will need more fabric.
